Structural Supports Protection against Seawater and Atmospheric Corrosion | ZINGA

Active and Passive action alternative to hot-dip galvanising for long-term structural steel protection.

Across CGCL, steel structures and components may be exposed to attack from airborne dust, cooling water drift, industrial moisture, or mechanical damage that compromises existing coatings. When galvanizing isn’t feasible or existing protection has degraded, our solution, ZINGA provides an alternative that delivers both active cathodic and passive barrier protection.

ZINGA is a single-component, zinc-rich coating containing 96% zinc in the dry film. Applied like a paint, it behaves like a liquid anode, sacrificing itself to protect the underlying steel. Unlike traditional coatings, ZINGA can be recharged over time, meaning you can restore its protection without removing the original layer.

It is equally effective as:

– A standalone system for new or refurbished steel

– A primer in duplex systems, combined with epoxy or polyurethane topcoats

– A maintenance recharge over existing galvanised or metallised surfaces

Zinc-rich film galvanizing systems offer both active and passive corrosion protection for Nu-Iron’s structural supports that are continuously exposed to corrosive environments such as salt-laden air, high humidity atmospheres at the ports.

Zinga, liquid galvanising system offers the benefits of hot-dip galvanisation with the flexibility of an applied coating to protect these critical assets though a unique combination of active cathodic and passive barrier protection ensuring long term structural integrity.

Dual Protection: Zinc particles provide sacrificial (cathodic) protection while the organic binder forms a continuous, impermeable barrier.

Surface Rechargeability: Can be overcoated on existing hot-dip galvanised or metallised surfaces, extending their service life.

Self-Healing Zinc Layer: Minor mechanical damage is self–replenished as exposed zinc particles sacrificially corrode to protect the steel.

C5 High-Corrosivity Rating: Tested to ISO 12944-6 C5 standards for offshore and marine exposure.
