Chemical-Resistant Polymer Concrete for Acid & Caustic Containment | Sauereisen

Rapid structural concrete repairs with long-term corrosion protection

Sauereisen Chemical-resistant polymer concrete provides a dense, low-permeability, cast-in-place monolith that restores or builds structural capacity while resisting the process chemicals at bunds, sumps, trenches, floors and walls in acid/caustic handling areas, where conventional concrete rapidly deteriorates under spill and washdown exposure.

The polymer concrete systems are formulated from durable and robust materials that combine the working properties of concrete with the durability of chemical resistant polymers. They are designed for primary and secondary containment and utilises installation methods similar to Portland cement.

No. 165 Epoxy Polymer Concrete is resistant to a wide range of solvents, oils and acids. Within 7 days it achieves a compressive strength of 10,758 psi with a maximum service temperature of 93 degC.

No. 265 Epoxy Novolak Polymer Concrete offers exceptional physical strength and chemical resistance. The compressive strength after 7 days is 16,125 psi with a maximum service temperature of 121 degC.

Key Advantages:

Built for containment geometry: suitable for sumps, dikes/bunds, containment areas, trenches, walls and floors, including structural support columns/bases where needed.

Low-porosity, monolithic protection: helps reduce chemical ingress and underfilm/underlayer deterioration pathways common in acid/caustic service.

Designed for rehab work, not just new-build: both systems are suitable as a monolithic topcoat to rehabilitate chemically deteriorated concrete or protect new construction.

Rapid turnarounds: the formulation has an initial set in approximately 8 hours (for No. 165) and 18 hours (for No. 265) supporting tight shutdown windows and final cure achieved in 48 hours.

High strength, Abrasion & traffic tolerance: High compressive strengths achieved in 7 days due to its castable, heavy-duty formulation. This polymer concrete solution withstands impact and equipment loading.
